College hoop star Skylar Diggins is quite the popular person, having been linked to such notable celebs like Jay-Z and Lil Wayne. But on the day she graduated from Notre Dame University, she found a brand new Mercedes Benz in the parking lot from Roc Nation, the company started by Jay-Z that represents her.

“I got 99 problems but a BENZ ain’t one,” a tweet on Diggins’ account said, referencing off a Jay-Z hit. Jay-Z used to be a part0owner of the Brooklyn Nets, but he sold his shares so that he could start a sports-representation agency. Diggins is among the first high-profile clients in his agency, who also include the Yankees’ Robinson Cano and Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz.

Diggins was an All-America guard for the Fighting Irish who was taken third overall in the WNBA draft by the Tulsa Shock.

6-foot-7 small forward Andrew Wiggins, the no.1 recruit in the nation, has committed to play for the Kansas Jayhawks after deciding between Kentucky, North Carolina, and Florida State.

Wiggins, who hails out of Canada, averaged 23.6 points, 11.7 rebounds and 4.3 assists for Huntington Prep in West Virginia last season after transferring to the basketball loving school. His hard work earned him the Naismith High School player of the year award.

Kansas Jayhawks coach Bill Self was surprised by Wiggins decision to play for him because “we never had an idea which way he was leading.

“Andrew did this the exact way he said he was going to,” Self said in a news release. “He played his cards very close to his vest as did his mother and father. I knew we were one of four. The competition was very stiff and we were fortunate that we were able to ink him today. He’s a tremendous talent and a terrific kid.”

Defensive back Eddie Williams, 20, and linebackers Tyler Hayes and D.J. Pettway, both 18, were told to leave the school after being charged with second-degree robbery for their participation in the separate robberies of two students on the Tuscaloosa campus on Feb. 11. They’ve been banned from setting foot on the campus while awaiting a ruling from the Student Judicial Board.

Redshirt freshman H-back Brent Calloway was also one of the players dismissed after he used a stolen credit card taken from one of the students robbed by his teammates. This isn’t Calloway first run in with the law. He was charged with second-degree possession of marijuana as a true freshman in 2011.

“UA’s judicial review has been completed,” Deborah M. Lane, Alabama associate vice president for university relations, said Wednesday. “The four students involved in the robberies on campus are no longer enrolled in UA.”

“Based on all the information we’ve received and going through and trying to determine the future of the four guys that got in trouble, those guys are no longer associated with the football program,” Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban said on Wednesday. “Their actions do not reflect the spirit and character that we want our organization to reflect. It’s obviously very disappointing and unacceptable what happened.”

All four players charged were backups on the team.

The Michigan Wolverines basketball team is sitting at the top of The Associated Press college basketball poll once again for the first time in 20 years.

The previous No.1 team, Duke University, lost to Miami 90-63 in a stunning defeat that shocked the college basketball world. The Wolverines got 51 first-place votes from the 65-member national media panel on Monday, and Kansas moved up to the No.2 spot with 13 first-place votes. Michigan and Kansas are the only one loss teams left on the AP poll. Indiana, Florida, and Duke round out the top five.

This is only the fourth time in history that the Wolverines are sitting at the top of the No.1 spot. They held down the top spot for 10 weeks in 1964-65, eight weeks in 1976-77 and three weeks at the start of 1992-93, when the infamous Fab Five played their second season together.

The Wolverines are the second Big Ten team to be No.1 this season. Indiana was No.1 during the preseason and held the spot for the first five weeks of the regular season. Duke then got voted to number one and stayed there for four weeks before Louisville and the Blue Devils each held it for a week.

Rounding out the top 10 are No. 6 Syracuse, followed by Gonzaga, Arizona, Butler and Oregon. Miami rode its win over Duke to a 13-place jump in the poll, from 25th to 14th.

Oregon finished with a 12-1 record last season and will be sad to see Chip go but will likely be happy for his latest successes with the Eagles. Kelly has been through the interview stage with the Eagles quite early during their process especially after the 35-17 victory they had during the Fiesta Bowl against Kansas State further showing their dominance and strategic skill.

While during his coach phase at Oregon the team was 46-7 showing that whatever he was doing, he did it right and boldly. Hopefully he can bring this same passion and winning streak to the Eagles and give them exactly what they need during this next year of hard work. Initially after his meeting with the Eagles Kelly had decided to stay at Oregon but now he has officially made the move over.

Get ready for some serious action on the field tonight at the BCS National Championship

Tonight you can see Alabama Crimson Tide play against Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Fans are talking about the game all over blogs and the social world getting excited for the game tonight. It officially starts at 8pm Eastern Standard Time at Sun Life Stadium, 2269 Dan Marino Blvd Miami, FL.

This game is to determine who will become a U.S. National Champion of the NCAA division, the Football Bowl Subdivision. Annually the best teams go head to head as a final game to show who has the best skills overall. There is a four year rotation between the Rose Bowl, Sun Life Stadium, Mercedez-Benz Superdome, and University of Phoenix Stadium and this year it will be at Sun Life.

With a total payout of $18,000,000 this game is serious and also has some serious sponsors. In the past Tostitos, Nokia, FedEx, AT&T, Allstate, Citi, and Vizio have sponsored the game with this year being sponsored mainly by Discover. There will be some other events going on such as the Discover Championship Fan Experience presented by Bud Light and Dr. Pepper, also a Bud Light Championship Game Day Fan Zone presented by Allstate.

Former assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky appeared at his sentencing hearing today to answer for his conviction on several counts of child molestation. The hearing today finally brings to a close a scandal that has rocked Penn State University and shamed many of its biggest names, including former coach and hero Joe Paterno, who turned a blind eye to the actions of his assistant coach. The abuse went on for over a decade and during the trial eight of Sandusky’s victims testified against the man who earned their trust and then took terrible advantage of it. Despite the fact that Sandusky continues to maintain his innocence the judge handed down a sentence of 30-60 years in prison and stated “That has the unmistakable impact of saying, clearly, for the rest of your life. You abused the trust of those who trusted you…The crime is not only what you did to their bodies, but your assault to their psyches and souls.” The sentencing will hopefully bring closure to those that have suffered at the hands of Sandusky over the years.

The NCAA hit Penn State hard today with a series of sanctions that include $60 million in fines and the loss of 13 years of victories. The school will also not be eligible to play in the postseason games for the next four years eliminating them from the Big Ten title.

Sandusky, who was a defense coordinator at Penn State, was convicted last month on charges of sexually abusing several young boys during his time at the school and Penn State is being punished as a commission has found that several school officials as well as head coach Joe Paterno covered up the allegations for years. The school will also lose 20 scholarships a year for the next 4 years and be on probation for the next 5. The $60 million in fines will be allocated to child abuse prevention programs and to assist the victims of abuse outside of Penn State.

Brown is the only coach to win an NBA championship and an NCAA title, but he hasn’t held a head coaching position since leaving the Charlotte Bobcats in December 2010 after the team’s 9-19 start. SMU last went to the NCAA tournament in 1993, five years after beating Notre Dame in a first-round game.
