Promoter Bob Arum announced yesterday that boxer Manny Pacquiao’s next fight will be against 4 time rival Juan Manuel Marquez, rather than the highly anticipated rematch against Timothy Bradley Jr. Arum had a lunch meeting with Pacquiao’s advisor Michael Koncz in Las vegas this week to finalize plans for the fight. There were three contestants being considered for Pacquiao’s next fight: Bradley, who won their last encounter back in June, Miguel Cotto who was defeated by Pacquiao back in 2009 and Marquez. Cotto was Manny’s first choice but declined the match choosing instead to take on junior middleweight titlist Austin Trout. If all things go according to plan the fight will be held on Dec. 8th and the MGM Grand in Las vegas, rather than Pacquiao’s hometown of Mexico City as heavily speculated. Bradley’s next fight will most likely be held at Madison Square Garden to give the boxer more east coast exposure.
