Manti Te’o is being Shielded from Media by his new NFL team, the San Diego Chargers but they Lost Track of him this weekend at a Maxim party that honored his fake Girlfriend as one of the top 100 hottest woman ever.
A spokesperson from the San Diego Chargers made a statement on Monday, May, 20, 2013 that Manti Te’o will be unavailable to the media until the San Diego minicamp starts from June 11-13. The team called it an “organizational decision,” according to Michael Gehlken of U-T San Diego. The star linebacker was even kept from speaking with reporters at the Chargers’ second open session of organized team activities.
Although the media may be unhappy with this decision as he is new to the NFL and they are looking to cover the rookie, it is understandable given his past decision making in the public eye. Unfortunately, the team lost him last week as he was at the Maxim “Hot 100” list party in Hollywood which listed his fake online girlfriend, Lennay Kekua, at No. 69. While most of the women that are featured are posed sexy shots, “Maxim” featured Manti Te’o’s faux girlfriend as a black bikini floating in the air with the ocean and a beach as the background. The profile description for the photo says, “After Manti Te’o’s fake girlfriend hoax of 2012, we think it might be nice to have an invisible girl of our own to love. Why not? She’s got a ton of great qualities, including looking awesome in a bikini. ”
Manti Te’o is the former linebacker from Notre Dame and was drafted by the San Diego Chargers. He is most known, no for his playing talent but for his long-term girlfriend, Lennay Kekua, who made headlines when she supposedly had died of leukemia in the fall of 2012. Then it came out that he had actually never met this girlfriend of his and it was soon found out that she never actually existed. It was really a game of ‘catfish’ controlled by someone named Ronaiah Tuiasosopo.
Is Manti Te’o attempting to laugh at himself by going to this party? Is this the best time to be partying with Maxim over the issue that made him a national punch line as he starts his NFL career with a team that is trying to keep him out of the spot light?
Rookie coach Mike McCoy says he didn’t know Te’o went to the party.
