New England Patriots defensive back Derrick Martin was the unfortunate victim of a home invasion robbery that happened while he was playing in the AFC championship game with his team.
According to authories, two men wearing masks forced their way into Martin’s home in the Aurora suburb of Denver Sunday night while he was on the field playing against the Ravens for a spot in the SuperBowl. The armed men held a women and some kids at gunpoint while they ransacked the place, but police wouldn’t say whether the family were members of Martin’s family or not.
Police do not have any suspects yet due to the mask but they are actively searching. Police spokeswoman Cassidee Carlson said the men left the home with some valuables but left many other items behind, making it hard to determine whether robbery was the motive, or they were looking for Martin. She would not say what they took.
Martin attended Denver’s Thomas Jefferson High School and played football at the University of Wyoming.
