Senior running back Carlos Hyde has been suspended by the Ohio State Buckeyes, coach Urban Meyer announced on Monday. Hyde had a breakout season last year and scored 17 touchdowns but has found himself in hot water due to a pending investigation against him.
Though he has yet to be arrested or formally charged, Hyde has been identified as a person of interest in the investigation of an assault against a woman at a downtown Columbus bar. Meyer said Hyde has been barred from all football related activities as the school waits for the outcome from both a criminal investigation and a code of conduct investigation.
“I have a clear set of core values in place that members of this football program are constantly reminded of and are expected to honor,” Meyer said in the release. “There are also expectations with regard to behavior. I expect our players to conduct themselves responsibly and appropriately and they will be held accountable for their actions.”
